The objective of this research was to understand in which countries chemistry teachers have been using the Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodology in the classroom and how it has been applied. To this end, a survey of published works was carried out over a period of ten years (2010 to 2020), establishing the following keywords: Project-Based Learning and Chemistry. The selected publications were selected using the search engines: Radalyc, Scielo, Sciencedirect, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Semantic Scholar (Publons). The results obtained were organized by title, year, country and study group. The constitution of the corpus for the analysis of publications included only those linked to the teaching of chemistry. The results showed that only 33 publications use Project-Based Learning in the teaching of chemistry, 14 (42.4%) in chemistry classes and 19 (57.6%) in natural sciences. The countries that have dedicated the most time to using active methodology in teaching chemistry are the United States and Spain, with a significant percentage of studies being produced. Asian countries have been growing, showing great potential in the application of these techniques, despite the small number of studies. Although there are few studies in teaching chemistry, Project-Based Learning has been applied to encourage the development of linguistic, investigative and creative skills during classroom tasks, mobilizing students to solve problems. In general, the use of this methodology has shown positive results in several countries, despite its incipient stage; suggesting greater investment in research in schools and, mainly, in teacher training.
